Community Outreach Sessions
These classes are able to be customized to small or large groups as well as specific age groups. I have taught sessions in classroom type settings as well as at garden sites. Please feel free to contact me if you are interested in setting up a topic specific session.
Are you constantly looking for a better way to snack for you and or your family? Have you had trouble encouraging your kids to eat healthier? These sessions are designed to help you find ways to find tasty, fresh, foods to add to your diet. We will explore how and where our foods come from, how and why fresh foods are best, and where to find them. Hands-on activities are included, and customized to each age group attending the session.
Did you know there are over 400 different species of bees that call Minnesota their home? From honey bees, bumble bees, and mason bees to sweat bees and cuckoo bees, we have some really amazing bees in our own backyards. Learn about different types of bees, their life cycles, nesting and foraging beehaviors, as well as learn to look for signs of bee presence. We will explore some products bees make, and learn to identify some of the common bees we see.
Tours on the Farm
I truly believe we all learn best when we get involved in that which we are trying to understand. Tours can be designed around a great many topics I focus on, here at the farm. If you are interested in working with me to design an educational tour of the farm please contact me. Tours are typically offered throughout the growing season, but I can arrange tours based on your educational interests throughout the year.
